New blog, a clean slate, and TdF!

Hello!

So, this is my new blog to document my projects in knitting, spinning, and crochet. I will do my very best to update regularly and have pictures and what not so that it is interesting to read for someone who isn't me, but mostly I just wanted to have a place where I can write my thoughts and help keep me on track with my projects.

I had a blog on LJ for a long time, but it had no theme or direction and I never updated it. I've resolved to do a better job with this one and try and stick to the one topic I know a whole lot about and fell really passionate about, knitting! Hopefully this clean slate will help give me the momentum I need to create great stuff and hopefully to get a semi-decent Etsy business off the ground.

Anyway, enough with the introductory BS.

This summer I am participating in my first Tour du Fleece. For those of you who don't know what that is I will explain. The Tour du Fleece is sort of a personal challenge for spinners that takes place every year during the Tour du France and was started in 2007. Here are the guidelines from the Ravelry group for the 2010 TdF.

Guidelines (NOT RULES):

  1. Spin every day the Tour rides, if possible. Saturday July 3rd through Sunday July 25th. Days of rest: Monday July 12th, Wednesday July 21st. (Just like the actual tour)

  2. Spin something challenging Thursday July 22nd. (The Tour’s toughest mountain stage from Pau up the legendary Col du Tourmalet)

  3. Take a button if you want one. Then we can use the button on our blogs in show of solidarity. Take it from here or grab a clean one from the flickr pool. Come join the flickr pool!

  4. Wear yellow on Sunday July 25th to announce victory. Why not wear yellow on any day you feel particularly successful? (Yellow is the color of the race leader in the Tour - but here we are all ‘race leaders’)

  5. Other colors if desired: Green (sprinter - think FAST), Polka-dot (climber - as in uphill), and white (rookie)

I'm participating on the Rookie team and the Stashbuster team. I have been ever so tempted to buy new fibre for the TdF but I have so much at home that I just can't justify it, especially not to Justin, my boyfriend. So, for the next couple of weeks I will hopefully have only good things to report about my progress on the Tour. I will try to get some pics of the WIP's and the stash fibre I will be spinning! Talk to you soon!
